"Halcyon" - vertical art print

The Greeks said that Alcyone loved Ceyx so completely that when the sea took him, she went in after him. A refusal to remain in a world where he did not. The gods were so moved, they lifted the couple from their dark sea of grief, transforming them into kingfishers.

And from that day, every winter, the winds go still and the sea lies flat and calm for fourteen days. The halcyon days, a gift from the gods so that Alcyone and Ceyx could rebuild what was lost and nest undisturbed.

This painting is that moment, mid-transformation. Ceyx's death-still hand reaching up from the still water, Alcyone in her new kingfisher form descending to meet it. Grief at its deepest point, just before it becomes something else.

Packaged in a sturdy mailer or shipping tube. If your print comes in a shipping tube, simply lay them out on a clean, dry surface for a couple of hours.
(Pro tip: lay facedown on a clean surface or the tissue paper it comes wrapped in, and lay a book on top to flatten quicker!)

These gorgeous art prints are printed on demand. Please allow some time for us to prepare your order. Usually 5-7 business days.
The materials used are high quality and archival. Your beautiful art print will last a lifetime with proper care. Each print is cut to size with or without additional borders, depending on your choice.

➤ ABOUT FINE ART PAPER PRINTS:
The art prints are printed on heavyweight fine art cold-pressed paper. They have a slight texture similar to watercolor paper and are printed with highly pigmented ink. This luxurious matte paper allows for rich and vibrant colors.

➤ CARE:
Paper prints are more delicate, and it's highly recommended that your print be framed behind glass. If you can splurge on a frame with UV glass or acrylic, it's even better.
It isn't recommended to have your print out in the open, as they will get dirty from dust and everyday particles, which over time will affect the colors of the prints. Not to mention they can easily get damaged, particularly the corners.
